Turns out almost all of them had the same question: would it make sense to purchase an Amazon Kindle if I'll be using it almost exclusively outside the US?

The answer to that question is RIGHT NOW a resounding: YES. You see, when both Kindle 2 and Kindle DX were first launched into the market, there weren't any international versions available for either model. That meant that, when you bought a Kindle ebook reader and wanted to use it abroad, you didn't have whispernet available. Of course, you could still use the Kindle, but you didn't have wireless connectivity available like you did when you were using it from within the United States.Fortunately for many of you, international users, that has all changed. Right now, both Kindle dx and the cheap Kindle 2 come with wireless international connectivity. We can't say the same for Kindle 1st generation, though, since it has been discontinued and you can only have access to it as a used or refurbished version of the Amazon Kindle reader.
For those of you who are planning to buy a cheap Kindle DX for sale, there might be some unexpected news.

Last Tuesday, Jeff Bezos told Amazon shareholders that a Kindle DX with color screen capabilities was still far and away. However, it seems that technicians from his own Kindle team may disagree. Not far from there, they were checking out LG's 9.7-inch electronic paper and they were VERY happy with what they saw. In fact, rumors are they may have already talked with LG and asked for Amazon.com to be LG's first customer for the new display material. The idea, of course ,would be to come out with a new Amazon Kindle DX for sale with color screen before the end of the year.

Now, far from confirming this piece of news, Amazon's spokeman maintained Bezo's words to his shareholders were accurate. So, no major changes in the near future for the Kindle DX. Who are we to believe?Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2261704383459424478.post-26017623267266062702010-03-14T14:31:00.000-07:002010-03-14T14:37:20.518-07:00Kindle DX is now international<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvg6H_ymJRKKZa5Cs-C6l0aNIhLWoBMbAVtEaIRu-00HPX05MsgIuP_bxUNt86zoXXGSSxxeubxdA-Wv5vhxE1XLlUHzahI_Jm5dFaYiu3QmFA0K3NdCVD7GcyQPFNRk_-QbEazTZdJIk/s400/Kindle+DX.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5448606244620338082" />
Hi, Amazon Kindle fans.

I have some news for you regarding your favorite reader: the Kindle.

The latest version of the Kindle wireless reading device (Kindle DX) is now available internationally. In fact, it already was. News is that now it has international wireless capabilities, which puts it on the same page than its brother, Kindle 2. Now, while this decision ultimately depends on the needs of each of us, I'd like to make a short review and tell you why I personally believe Kindle dx is probably the best choice when it comes to buying a reading device.

Let's start with size and weight: The new 9.7'' Kindle DX's screen is almost as big as the Kindle 2nd generation. While this feature accounts for a better readability, it does end up making the Kindle dx about twice as heavy as the earlier version, and not adviceable to carry with only one hand. However, the latest Kindle is extremely thin and its geeneral weight is not really that much of an issue for most of us. Who wins? Once again, your choice. I personally don't care it being a bit heavier, I like my Amazon Kindle dx.

Improvements and other features:

- The new Kindle DX has built in PDF support, which makes it both easy and convenient to work with this popular format.

- Much bigger screen

- Better text readability. Better contrast text/background.

- Landscape mode that provides a mild zoom. Good for viewing large pictures and reading some small text in pdf.

- Increased storage capacity: Almost 3,500 books against 1,500 aprox for the Kindle 2.

- Very easy to navigate. due t its five-way controller.

- Longer battery life

Now is this the perfect Kindle for you ? If you don't matter carrying around a wireless reading device that's a little bit heavier and bigger ( not much ), then yes, it is.

Does it justify the price gap? In my humble opinion, yes, it does, and very much so. Then again, all of these answers are and should be individual. In any case, don't forget to check the new Amazon Kindle DX. It would be more user friendly to have either small "wing type handles" pull out from under the kindle to allow holding it away from the page advance/retreat tabs or to have the tabs smaller to allow for holding the frame of the kindle and not involve one of the tabs.

Another improvement would be to either have a similar availablity and pricing for audio books as you do for written material. Short of that, if that is not an option, allow for audio books to be downloaded regardless of the source. It would seem to me that written books would be the preference in most cases but a reasonably priced or more broadly accessible audio book (for a long plane ride for example when it is more pleasant to listen with noise deadening earphones than trying to read for long periods). The present audio book option does not seem economically reasonable.

---------------------

Stay tunned for more AmazonKindle reviews and discover where to buy amazon kindle TODAY...Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2261704383459424478.post-86714229634392447432007-12-26T09:19:00.000-08:002008-07-25T07:17:59.054-07:00Yet another AmazonKindle Review and where to buy Amazon Kindle: Kindle # 1 is great.By Connie Kalberq (Missoula, MT)

AmazonKindle : Amazon's New Wireless Reading Device :

This is such a great product. The first generation needs a little tweeking, but I am hooked. I live in Montana which does not have Wispernet wireless service yet - but even so, this makes accessing and reading books even more pleasurable.

The Mighty Brite XtraFlex2 light I purchased with the product works great with the Kindle cover, but the next generation really needs to have a light built in which also goes to sleep when the AmazonKindle does. The pages are not backlit which allows clear reading, even in sunshine. I am really looking forward to taking this on vacation with my favorite novels all in one device. Being able to purchase currently released novels for almost the price of paperbacks is great - and I don't have to wait. I love this thing.

-----------------

Well, it seems the Kindle keeps making waves !

BTW, would you like to have a close look at all its features ?...

Then go to the link below and check this Amazon Kindle video now ( and follow the URL on it to discover where to buy amazon kindle Right Now :)

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2261704383459424478.post-30434148855290002722007-12-24T09:35:00.000-08:002010-04-05T23:23:15.323-07:00AmazonKindle Review : " Great Device. Early Adopter Price."By Richard Powell (Louisville, Ky USA)

I can honestly say that I'm extremely satisfied with my AmazonKindle. The screen (arguably the largest point of judgement for an eBook reader), matches or betters the contrast that I find in my newspapers and paperback books, so it's more than suitable for everyday bulk reading. The physical design, while not necessarily a beauty pageant winner, is highly functional and mostly unintrusive (with one exception, noted below). The included book cover protects the device well, although the method of securing the Kindle to the cover feels slightly unstable. The best part about this device, however, is the always-on wireless. The ability to have my newspapers and magazines electronically delivered to my device without my intervention is truly convenient. I've been waiting for something to do this for some time, and the fact that the AmazonKindle does not even require a PC connection makes it that much more streamlined.

There are some bads, however. The biggest are the side buttons (for page turning). While I love the tactile feedback these buttons provide (they have a nice 'click'), I dislike the fact that they're too easy to hit by accident. I cannot attach the included book cover, open the battery / memory door, or hand it to someone else to show it off without accidentally turning a page. I love the buttons, but I question their placement. This does not become an issue once you learn to lock the device before you do any of the above, so it's a minor quibble, but a quibble nonetheless.

The second, and larger, issue is the price. It's steep. The books and content aren't bad, however. Most of those match or beat the actual in-store prices for most of the books that I read, so that's a BIG plus. However, the base cost for this type of device is high. It's definitely in the "early adopter" category.

In closing, I really like the Amazon Kindle, and I recommend and show it to anyone who shows an interest (which has been everyone who's seen it). I would like to see the service take off, but I know that there will need to be more early adopters before the device will become enough of a commodity that the price can be lowered. Here's to hoping for success!

------------

As promised, I bring you the good and the not so good about AmazonKindle and where to buy amazon kindle Right Now. Here it goes, the good and the "not so good" :

Fabulous product - Content needs a little work..., November 19, 2007
By Eclectic Homeschool Mom (Seattle, WA USA)

I have been using my Kindle for about 6 weeks and I must say that it took me only a few hours to totally fall in love with it. I curl up in my lounge chair with some hot tea next to me and get lost in a world of reading. The size is very appropriate for reading and I can read with only one hand since I use a thumb to press the next page button. This leaves my other hand free to sip my tea or pet the dog.

Fabulous Features of the AmazonKindle :

* Wireless downloading of books - I can look up a book, read a summary and/or a few reviews and then buy it right away. This will cause some financial issues down the road because it is just so easy but is sure is a powerful feature. Entire books really do download in just a few seconds.

* Readability - I am lumping several features under this category. The one-handed reading, the overall size of the reader, the crisp text and the variable font size all work together to make the experience while reading just fabulous. Several times while reading late at night, I pushed the text font button and upped the font size because my eyes were getting a bit tired. A younger reader in our household was comfortable with the smallest font size, while the slightly older readers really appreciated one of the middle font sizes. I used the largest font size when I had the reader propped up on the treadmill. In the past, I have not found a good way to read while using the treadmill because the pages flip and the font was too small but that excuse is gone now.

* Subscription content delivered while I was sleeping. Another bad habit in the making - I stayed in bed and simply turned on the Kindle and was able to read my morning paper without setting foot outside.

* Incredible amount of content with me at all times. Since the unit is the size of a basic paperback, I slipped it into my purse and had it with me all the time. Whenever I was waiting for more than a minute, I would get the unit out. It initially started up on the page where I last left it, but with one click on the home button, I was brought to my multi-page list of available books and documents. I am the type of reader who usually has about 5 different books going at once and I could just pick the one that interested me at the time.

* AmazonKindle NowNow - You pose a question and hit submit. Within a few minutes, you get several responses - for free sent to your Kindle. This was extremely helpful when I was away from a computer and just needed a quick answer. This was actually easier than googling because I got three very good answers for every question that I asked. Good Features:

* Battery Life - The battery life indicator goes up and down at various rates depending on whether you are actively using the wireless. I didn't realize this at first, so I thought that the battery life was short, but when I just used the Kindle for reading, I went several days without needing to charge. Charge time is really quick - an hour or two at the most to get a full charge but I can still read for an entire evening on a very low indicator.

* Plays mp3 files - but this feature needs some work. Currently, the files are played randomly, so you can't select specific music to play or use it for mp3 audio books and lectures. I put some instrumental mp3s on my SD card and it was nice to have background music sometimes.

* Subscriptions Revisited - I still read a "real" newspaper. In the online versions of subscription content, I miss the extras like photos, comics, puzzles, letters to editor and such. All of the articles are included, but the complete experience of a newspaper is not quite duplicated in online content - this is not only for the AmazonKindle but also for web based news. Missing or Negative Features (the reason for losing one star on this review) -

* Content - I expected to be able to download ebooks from my local library (for free) and read them on my Kindle. I also expected to simply copy all types of text to my AmazonKindle using either the SD card or the USB. I have found a work-around for my pdf files using the MobiPocket Creator. This works really well except for the Table of Contents - which didn't quite translate properly. I translated several of the free books that I downloaded from wowio. The text came over just fine, but some of the fancy text/graphic chapter headers became separated. Also, some of the books that I wanted are not available in the Kindle store yet. I have used the email conversion and that worked okay.

* Pricing Structure - I am a cheapskate in general and frequently buy my books from thrift stores, library sales and used book stores. I have several issues with the pricing and hopefully, the market will correct some of these issues. I can't share the books that I purchase and there isn't really a "used" market for ebooks. I must admit though, that the longer I used the AmazonKindle, the more I was able to justify the book prices in relation to the convenience of having them on my device. For things like textbooks and other books where I want a "real" copy of the book, I would like to see a purchase option that includes a Kindle version for almost nothing if I am purchasing the title in book form. Also, I would like Amazon to offer me nearly free Kindle copies of all the books that I have already purchased in the past - and the list is long! I also wish the entry point was cheaper since I am spending so much on content.

Summary : I love my Amazon Kindle. I keep it nearby at all times and I am finally getting a chance to catch up on some reading since I have a whole collection with me whenever I get a few minutes to myself.

------

More AmazonKindle reviews to come...

Remember you can buy amazon kindle right now hereUnknownnoreply@blogger.com0
